Danger harmful fumes health & safety hazard signs
- These hazard signs are suitable for installation in a wide variety of environments to notify people to take extra precautions with harmful fumes present. According to the Health & Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996, employers must provide adequate signage to notify people of hazardous areas. In this case, it may be helpful to also install PPE signs to remind people to wear appropriate respiratory protection before entering the hazardous area. Any industrial environment which handles toxic materials, particularly laboratories, factories and manufacturing plants, should take great care to ensure any area in which harmful fumes are present has appropriate hazard signage.
- There are three types of sign materials to choose from when purchasing these harmful fumes signs. The first is self-adhesive vinyl, which is flexible and therefore suitable for adhering to curved surfaces such as cylinders or other equipment. Vinyl signs are particularly useful for installing on glass because they offer quick and easy installation on smooth surfaces.
- We also have rigid plastic signs with self-adhesive backing, which offer more durability with the added convenient installation. Finally, the rigid polypropylene variety is very durable and should be used on surfaces which are not smooth enough for self-adhesive signs, such as rough brick walls. They're also suitable for use outdoors.
- Do note, however, that extra sign fixings will be required to install the rigid polypropylene sign, and if you plan to screw the sign to a wall you'll also need to drill holes into the four corners. Alternatively, you could use SignFix weather resistant adhesive, which is suitable for outdoor use with polypropylene signs.
